Halloweentown is a family friendly hit
A film directed by Duwayne Dunham in 1998 that had 73% rotten tomatoes. The main characters that made up the cast of Halloweentown was Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, and Judith Hoag. These actors also starred in the next three Halloweentown movies. The whole series of movies were released in October for Halloween. The first one was made in 1998 and the last one was 2006.
To summarize the movie this girl Marnie discovers she’s a witch when her grandma comes to town on Halloween. Her mother never wanted her to know but Marnie overheard her grandma who is a witch along with her mom who is a witch also talking. The only thing is that on her 13th birthday she has to start her witch training and if she doesn’t then she loses her powers forever. Which her grandma doesn’t want to happen
Meanwhile, she is supposed to be sleeping but she notices her grandma is leaving so she goes outside to follow her but her little brother and sister follow behind. They follow their grandma all the way to Halloweentown. While they are there, their grandma says that something is wrong and that she needs another witch to help her defeat this evil villain. But do they defeat the evil villain? You’ll have to watch to find out.
All together I thought the movie was good. It wasn’t excellent but it wasn’t horrific. It’s definitely a kid/family movie. I would recommend it to families, because the concept of the movie was great it did have a good message in it and I think kids would enjoy that part of it. It also had very unrealistic creatures in it which kids could find funny or interesting.
It definitely reached all my expectations for a Disney Channel Movie. It was fun and appropriate. I enjoyed it. I thought it brought out the little kid in me that loved those type of movies. All the actors in the movie were excellent. The kids were great. I expected them to be mediocre but they were a lot better than what I was expecting for young kids. Debbie Reynolds as the kooky grandma was excellent.
This is a great movie for a rainy day or just to pass a lazy afternoon. I highly recommend this to kids and families. I’m sure your kids will love this movie as much as I do.
